At Forestdale FC, our U7–U16 teams take part in a structured weekly training programme and showcase their development in competitive Tandridge League fixtures.

Training Programme

At Forestdale FC, our players train three hours each week as part of a structured and carefully designed programme to fully support their development.
Early in the week, every player takes part in a Small-Sided Games (SSG) session, designed to give them maximum touches on the ball and create real match-like situations. These sessions include:
  • 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 challenges to develop dribbling, defending, and combination play
  • Overloads and underloads such as 2v1s and 3v2s to teach quick decision-making
  • Pitches with varied conditions to encourage adaptability and creativity
  • Different opposition challenges to stretch every player, no matter their level
Players are constantly challenged — by the coach, by the pitch size, and by the level of the opposition — to ensure they are learning in a realistic, game-focused environment.
Technical & Tactical Preparation

Later in the week, just before match day, players take part in a session that focuses on the theme of the week taken directly from our club’s coaching syllabus. This might include playing out from the back, pressing, or defending the box.

Each session combines:
  • Game-based practices to work on decision-making under pressure
  • Isolated technical drills to refine passing, dribbling, and ball mastery
  • Small-sided games to bring everything together in realistic match scenarios
This ensures players go into the weekend fully prepared — technically, tactically, and mentally — for the challenges they’ll face in their matches.
​Match Day
On match day, players arrive 30 minutes before kick-off to take part in a structured warm-up. This includes:
  • Isolated technical practices to activate their touch and movement
  • Game-based activities to prepare for match scenarios
  • Tactical reminders linked to the weekly theme and club philosophy

Everything we do on match day reflects our club’s philosophy: to develop confident, intelligent players who can perform under pressure and enjoy their football.
